KOA Corporation provided design, project management and construction management services for the $5.6 million Spring Street Improvement project along the border of the City of Signal Hill and the City of Long Beach. The project included widening and reconstructing the roadway, lowering the grade crest by 17 feet, parkway improvements, intersection improvements, traffic signal upgrades and new installations, and relocating existing gas, oil, water, sewer and other utility lines. Based on record data and field exploration, KOA identified in excess of 29 underground utility lines including public utilities, private utilities and underground oil and gas pipelines. As part of the Spring Street Project, 980 linear feet of 12” diameter sewer line was installed along Spring Street and California Avenue and 1900 linear feet of 30”, 24” and 18” diameter storm drain lines were installed along Atlantic Avenue. Landscaped medians were also constructed along the section of Spring Street between Long Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue and along the section of Atlantic Avenue between Spring Street and Canton Avenue.
