KOA developed bikeway strategic plans and feasibility studies for Orange County Supervisorial District 5, which involved coordination with 11 cities, Caltrans District 12, and the County of Orange.  This regional plan obtained an ACEC California 2016 Engineering Excellence Awards – Merit Award in 2016. The project identified nine potential regional bikeway corridors with 125 miles of bikeway facilities at an estimated cost of $91.3 million. KOA developed a set of eight specific prioritization criteria to rank the proposed bikeway corridors according to benefits. In addition, KOA assessed corridors by analyzing existing bicycle facilities and future bicycle demand within the district, conducting planning level cost estimation, and creating a bikeway improvement toolbox. KOA also facilitated outreach and built consensus among all associated local agencies and the general public.
