Federal Funded Safe Routes to School, Cycle 3

The City of Coachella applied and succeeded in receiving a Safe Route to School Cycle 3 Federal grant for improvements for 6 schools at 9 locations as part of the SRTS plans in the City of Coachella.  The City has gone through a process with each of the school administration and the public to gather information and determine the proposed improvements at each school location.  Each of the improvements is in direct relation to the safe routes to school and safety for the pedestrians/students walking to each school. The improvements generally include school crosswalk enhancements and, at many locations, bulb-outs and new pedestrian ramps. KOA was selected for pervious Cycle 2 project and was recently selected by the City once again to prepare PS&E for the project. This project included construction of bulb out sections, bright reflecting crosswalks, and pedestrian safety signs at different locations.
