KOA provided engineering design and construction management services for the City of South Gate’s Safe Route to School Cycle 8 and 9 Project (City Project No. 449-TRF). This was an important project for the City in that it provided needed infrastructure improvements for pedestrians and cyclists. This state funded project involved civil engineering design, construction management and environmental documents prepareation and utility coordination.
Major components of the project included:
- Installation of 98 Pedestrian Countdown Signal Heads
- Installation of 17 Solar Powered Speed Awareness Signs
- Installation of 6 Speed humps with Regulatory Signange
- Flashing Beacons at the Intersection of Santa Ana Street and Madison Avenue
- Installation of 8,200 LF of Class I Bike Path along Southern Avenue
- Installation of 2,000 LF of Sidewalk on Tweedy Boulevard
- Installation of 1,200 LF of Raised Median Islands on Southern Avenue
- Installation of 6,500 LF of Class II Bike Lane on Alexander Avenue
