KOA prepared the City of Indio’s Complete Streets & Drainage Master (CS&D) Plan that will serve as the primary guiding document in achieving the City’s General Plan key outcome: “an interconnected transportation network that serves all users and modes in a healthy, equitable manner.” The plan focused on four goals: Safety, Community Health, Connectivity, and Sustainability. The Indio CS&D Plan will guide future studies, projects, and documents on Indio’s street design and improvements. A major component to the plan involved developing a flexible transportation system that supported multi-modality, active travel, and overall green sustainable infrastructure. Indio’s Complete Streets Network will serve as the foundation for more a balanced transportation system — convenient and accessible for all roadway users, regardless of mode, age, and ability. KOA developed a layered network approach providing modal priorities for each street typology, and additional analyses was conducted to identify key City corridors for Complete Street improvements.
