This Safe Routes to School project focuses on collaborating with six target schools and Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) administrators to develop a set of strategies that are unique to each school and are able to be applied to other schools in the GGUSD. Actions utilized to achieve these goals include walking safety assessments, community workshops, data collection, and spatial analyses to understand the existing conditions for a baseline year. To guide the outreach component, the project implemented a Stakeholder Outreach Plan (SOP) to strategize participation from a variety of outlets. Using the feedback from the outreach process, engineering recommendations and a prioritization methodology were produced – contributing to the final SRTS Plan.
