KOA is currently developing a concept design plan to enhance traffic and pedestrian safety along North Lake Avenue between Maple Street and Mountain Street. KOA utilized a variety of tools including Streetlight Data, ClearGuide, RoadSafe GIS, and others to assess the traffic operation and to understand the travel pattern along North Lake Avenue. A project website built on an e-learning platform Articulate 360 has been developed to provide a virtual open house experience for the interested parties and the general public. The contents on the website include a project introduction video that features drone footage of the corridor, project information, areas for improvements, surveys in both English and Spanish. The general public can use the embedded GIS online Mapping tool to pinpoint the location where they have observed or experienced traffic safety issues, or where they desire a type of improvement. KOA will develop 30%, 60%, 90%, and a finalized concept design based on the input and feedback from the community. The exhibits of the design will be demonstrated on the website, with some educational materials regarding the benefits of the proposed safety countermeasures. Cost estimation, 2D, and 3D rendering will be provided after the design is finalized. In addition, KOA will develop a plan to implement the improvements in phases, with identified funding sources.
