For this world-class museum, KOA worked with the project design team and prepared all necessary traffic signal, street lighting, and signage and striping plans. Initially, we prepared conceptual plans with alternative roadway improvement options for team review. We prepared the construction plan set, which included more than 15 plan sheets for the roadway improvements surrounding the site. We assisted with innovative tunnel street lighting design, coordinated the traffic signal and street lighting improvements with streetscape enhancements, and analyzed traffic signal warrants for a new mid-block pedestrian crossing. We coordinated the relocation of a Metro bus stop with the signage and striping upgrades, and coordinated designs with the constraints of bridge structure construction and the adjacent Regional Transit Connector station. Given the mix of challenges, concerns, and constraints, we developed non-standard, but effective, solutions.
