USC Harlyne Norris Research Center Street Lighting and Utilities Undergrounding, Biggy Street / Eastlake Avenue, Los Angeles, California
The Keck School of Medicine on the University of Southern California’s Health Sciences Campus expanded its laboratory research space with the opening of the Harlyne J. Norris Cancer Research Tower. One of the nation’s first centers focused exclusively on the study of epigenetics, the impressive ten story Tower called for streetscape improvements that would harmonize with the center’s desire to “promote well-being with a sense of intimacy, warmth and quiet efficiency.”

KOA prepared plans and handled the permit processing for the installation of street trees, including tree wells and decorative grate covers, construction of decorative sidewalks, and replacement of the existing curbs and gutters. KOA also provided design services for the modification of street lighting for the site. KOA coordinated with the City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to underground the existing overhead power lines and power poles along the project frontage on Eastlake Avenue.
