In-Pavement Flashing Crosswalks: State of the Art, Fountain Valley, California
KOA was retained by the City of Fountain Valley to provide an assessment of the current state of usage of a new technology for uncontrolled crosswalks using warning lights embedded in the pavement adjacent to the crosswalk. The study concluded that these new systems were generally well received by user-agencies and that they may be 80% less susceptible to pedestrian accidents than traditional crosswalk markings.
